THE AVANTI WAY
The Avanti Way statements for Educational Excellence, Character Formation and Spiritual Insight (how we develop these within each subject).
EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Our curriculum emphasises critical thinking, creative expression, and effective communication. By challenging students with a range of texts and writing tasks, we aim to develop their analytical skills, broaden their vocabulary, and refine their ability to articulate ideas clearly and confidently.
CHARACTER FORMATION
Our English lessons encourage students to explore diverse perspectives, enhancing empathy and ethical understanding. By engaging with complex characters and moral dilemmas in literature, students develop a deeper sense of self and a commitment to contributing
meaningfully to society.
SPIRITUAL INSIGHT
Within English, Literature often addresses profound questions about existence, purpose, and values. By delving into these themes, students gain insights into their own beliefs and values, fostering a sense of spiritual awareness and a deeper connection to their personal and cultural
heritage.

ASSESSMENT AND FEEDBACK
At Avanti House, we ensure that our students receive clear and consistent feedback to support their progress in English. Throughout Year 12 and Year 13, students complete two summative assessments per year, modelled on Paper 1 in Year 12 and Paper 2 in Year 13, to mirror the exam experience.
In addition, students receive formative feedback every half term. Teachers mark one key piece of work, identifying areas for improvement and guiding students on how to enhance their performance. Regular feedback is also provided through the use of models and exemplars, allowing students to see strong examples of work and learn how to apply these standards to their own writing.
